Motorsports portal

The motorsports portal founded in 1997 by Christian Rathke has set a new record: in March 2012, Formel1.de attracted an incredible 2.358 million visitors! Since the website entered the race with a new design in 2010, visitor numbers have increased at top speed from an average 680,000 (2009) to 1.4 million (2012) – before the new record was achieved in 2012.

Task

.PEPPERZAK. asked itself to design and maintain their own home-made Formula 1 portal www.formel1.de, as well as to develop an appropriate logo.

Solution

Exciting entertainment & information for all Formula 1 fans. Up-to-date news about running events, brilliant pictures in the huge gallery and an extensive race archive – bulging with background knowledge, facts and statistics about all racing teams. There is nothing the passionate motorsports lover will not find on www.formel1.de: the most successful driver since the beginning of the Formula 1, the latest news from the racing stables, lots of details about all drivers and their records. And, of course, all important dates, tips, quiz and winning contests as well as links. The home-made Formula 1 logo turned the portal into a strong and distinctive brand. In 2004 the website appeared in a new look, with many highly attractive feature, such as an online ticket service for business clients, or the Sauber Racing Art Shop. One of the ultimate highlights on the relaunched site: via the website, Formula 1 fans have the unique opportunity to purchase strictly limited design items produced from original parts of the Sauber Petronas bolides. The relaunch in 2013 included a comprehensive redesign – topics, news and galleries now looked even more convincing. A countdown to the second increases the suspense and anticipation of the next race. The top feature of the revised platform: a live ticker, which for the first time displays all of the drivers’ positioning data during the race. In order to meet also Web 2.0 requirements, the social networks Facebook, Twitter and Google Buzz were integrated in the website.
